Major General Ravi Murugan Relinquishes Command to Major General VT Mathew

Bengaluru – In a significant change of command, Major General Ravi Murugan, PVSM, AVSM, has stepped down from his role as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area. After 37 years of exemplary service in the Indian Army, Major General Murugan handed over the baton to Major General VT Mathew, AVSM, YSM.

Major General Ravi Murugan is a distinguished alumnus of Sainik School Kazhakootam, the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 11 MADRAS Regiment in December 1988. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held various pivotal instructional, staff, and United Nations peacekeeping appointments.

His notable assignments include serving as a Military Observer in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) and as the Chief Operational Officer at the Force HQ UNISFA in Sudan. Prior to assuming his role as GOC of the Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area, Major General Murugan served as the Major General Staff (MGGS) (Doctrine) at the HQ Army Training Command (ARTRAC).

Major General VT Mathew, who takes over the command, brings with him a wealth of experience and a decorated military career. His leadership is expected to continue the legacy of excellence established by his predecessor.

This change of command marks a new chapter in the Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area's history, promising continued dedication to service and excellence under Major General VT Mathew's leadership.
