Indian Army Strengthens Veteran Support at Madikeri Outreach

Madikeri - The Indian Army’s Southern Command, under the aegis of HQ Southern Command, conducted a Veterans Outreach Program at Madikeri, Kodagu, reaffirming its unwavering support to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris (war widows), and dependents. The event saw an overwhelming response, with 565 veterans and Veer Naris attending from Madikeri and Virajpet.

The outreach was graced by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command, Lt Gen Karanbir Singh Brar, PVSM, AVSM, GOC, Dakshin Bharat Area, and Major General VT Mathew, AVSM, YSM, GOC, Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area. In his address, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth expressed gratitude to the veterans and their families, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation. He reassured them of the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to their welfare.

Pension, SPARSH, and Medical Aid: Key Highlights

  • 376 grievances related to SPARSH & pensionary entitlements were resolved on the spot by officials from seven Record Offices and the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA), Bengaluru.
  • 72 veterans received medical and dental aid, while a special cancer screening camp examined 19 individuals for early detection.
  • Experts from Zonal Recruitment Office (ZRO), Bengaluru, Zilla Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Office, Madikeri, and Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) briefed attendees on welfare schemes, re-employment, and recruitment opportunities.

The event was well received by the veteran fraternity, highlighting the Indian Army’s continued dedication to ensuring dignified post-retirement lives for its personnel.
