Southern Railway Announces Special Onam Express Trains Between Ernakulam and Bengaluru
Onam 2026: Extra Ernakulam–Bengaluru Special Trains Announced, Five Weekly Services to Operate from August 9 to September 7 to Meet Festive Travel Demand

Bengaluru: In a major relief for passengers travelling during the upcoming Onam Festival, Southern Railway has announced the operation of special weekly express trains between Ernakulam Junction and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Bengaluru to accommodate the anticipated surge in festive travel.
The Railways will operate five special services in each direction between August 9 and September 7, 2026, providing additional capacity for thousands of passengers travelling between Kerala and Karnataka during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
Special Train Schedule
Train No. 06147 – Ernakulam–SMVT Bengaluru Weekly Express Special will depart from Ernakulam at 11:10 PM every Sunday, from August 9 to September 6, 2026, and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 12:45 PM the following day.
In the return direction, Train No. 06148 – SMVT Bengaluru–Ernakulam Weekly Express Special will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 4:00 PM every Monday, from August 10 to September 7, 2026, arriving at Ernakulam at 5:45 AM the next day.
