Thiruvananthapuram: In a major offensive against narcotics trafficking, Kerala Police arrested 37 persons and registered 32 cases during a statewide special drive under ‘Operation D-Hunt’ conducted on January 3, 2026.

As part of the intensified anti-drug campaign, police teams across the state screened 1,334 persons suspected of involvement in drug peddling and related activities. The operation led to the seizure of ganja weighing 0.019 kg and 28 ganja beedis, along with other prohibited substances.

The coordinated drive was launched with the objective of identifying and dismantling networks involved in the storage, distribution, and sale of narcotic substances, and to initiate strict legal action against offenders under relevant provisions of law.

To strengthen public participation in the fight against drugs, the police have reiterated the availability of a 24x7 Anti-Narcotics Control Room (9497927797) for receiving actionable inputs from citizens. Authorities assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

The state’s anti-narcotics efforts are being further reinforced through a multi-layered intelligence and enforcement mechanism. Under the direct supervision of the ADGP (Law and Order), the State Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Cell and the NDPS Coordination Cell are operational at the state level, while range-level Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Cells function across police ranges to ensure sustained monitoring and swift action.

Police officials stated that Operation D-Hunt will continue with heightened intensity in the coming days as part of Kerala’s zero-tolerance approach towards drug abuse and trafficking.
