Sikkim Tunnel Collapse: PM Modi Announces ₹2 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Kin of Deceased

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives caused by the collapse of an under-construction tunnel in Namchi, Sikkim. Offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Prime Minister also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the tragic incident.

In response to the disaster, Prime Minister Modi announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). The next of kin of each deceased victim will receive an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh, while each injured person will be provided ₹50,000.

Sharing his condolences on X, the Prime Minister said he was "anguished by the loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction tunnel in Namchi, Sikkim," and assured support for the affected families through the relief package.
