Aero India 2025: IAF & Army Chiefs Make History, Soar in Indigenous Tejas Fighter Jet!
For the first time ever, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi take a 45-minute sortie in the homegrown Tejas aircraft, showcasing India’s defense aviation prowess at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru- In a landmark moment for India's defense aviation sector, Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi took a historic sortie in the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at the Aero India 2025 airshow in Bengaluru. This marks the first time both the IAF and Army chiefs have jointly flown in the Tejas, underlining India's growing self-reliance in military aviation.
The 45-minute sortie, conducted from the Yelahanka Air Force Station, showcased the advanced capabilities of the Tejas, which has been designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under the Make in India initiative. The flight demonstrated the aircraft's agility, avionics, and combat-readiness, further strengthening confidence in its operational deployment within the armed forces.
Aero India 2025, the biennial defense exhibition and airshow, serves as a global platform to highlight India's advancements in aerospace technology and defense manufacturing. The presence of top military officials in an indigenous fighter jet is seen as a significant endorsement of India's push towards self-reliance in defense, aligning with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Following the sortie, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh commended the Tejas' performance, calling it a "game-changer" for India's air defense capabilities. General Upendra Dwivedi also praised the aircraft's operational potential, emphasizing its role in modern warfare.
With increased global interest in Tejas, including potential exports to countries such as Argentina, Malaysia, and Egypt, the successful sortie by India's top military brass is expected to further boost international confidence in the aircraft.
The Aero India 2025 event, which features participation from over 100 global aerospace firms and leading defense manufacturers, continues to be a crucial stage for showcasing India's advancements in aviation technology and defense preparedness.
