TROPEX 2025: India’s Largest Naval War Game Strengthens Maritime Readiness
Indian Navy’s Mega Theatre-Level Exercise Validates War Strategies

New Delhi - The Indian Navy’s capstone Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX 2025) concluded successfully in early March, after three months of extensive maritime war-gaming. The exercise, which commenced in January, validated multiple concepts of operations, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s commitment to securing national interests in the Indian Ocean Region.
Integrated Warfare at Sea: Amphibious & Cyber Operations Take Centre Stage
TROPEX 2025 was structured into multiple phases, including Amphibious Exercise (AMPHEX), Joint Work Up Phase, and advanced Cyber and Electronic Warfare operations. The Tactical Phase rigorously tested the Indian Navy’s operational synergy with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Coast Guard.
The vast operational theatre spanned the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Bay of Bengal, covering approximately 4,300 nautical miles from north to south and 5,000 nautical miles from west to east. The exercise tested India’s maritime power across strategic chokepoints, including the Strait of Hormuz, Sunda Strait, and Lombok Strait.
Largest Naval Participation in India’s Military History
TROPEX 2025 witnessed the deployment of 65-70 Indian Naval ships, 9-10 submarines, and over 80 aircraft, marking one of the largest operational deployments in Indian Navy history. The exercise saw active participation from the Indian Army’s infantry troops, the Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi-30, Jaguar, C-130, AWACS aircraft, and more than 10 Indian Coast Guard vessels.
The synergy among the armed forces underscored India’s ability to mount an integrated maritime response to evolving security threats. Focused on precision strikes, tactical maneuvers, and rapid force mobilization, TROPEX 2025 further strengthened India’s naval dominance.
A Combat-Ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future-Ready Force
The exercise reaffirmed the Indian Navy’s readiness for large-scale maritime warfare, reinforcing its position as a combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-ready force. The successful culmination of TROPEX 2025 highlights India’s strategic autonomy and its ability to safeguard maritime interests in an increasingly complex security environment.
