Prayagraj - The world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, Mahakumbh 2025, began today in the sacred city of Prayagraj on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima, marking the first Shahi Snan (royal bath). By 9:30 AM, over 60 lakh devotees had already taken a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, with the number expected to exceed 1 crore by day’s end.
Extending his best wishes, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed devotees, saints, mahatmas, kalpvasis, and visitors, emphasizing Mahakumbh’s significance as a proud symbol of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He assured that comprehensive arrangements have been made for cleanliness, security, healthcare, and accommodation to ensure a divine and grand experience for all attendees.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hailed Mahakumbh as a testament to India’s eternal spiritual legacy, stating:“This grand confluence of devotion, culture, and faith reflects the spirit of harmony and celebrates India’s rich traditions.”
A Rare Astronomical Alignment
This year’s Mahakumbh features the rare Buddhaditya Yoga conjunction, occurring after 144 years, which is believed to enhance spiritual benefits. Devotees are engaging in sacred dips, yagnas, and ceremonies, praying for global welfare and national prosperity.
