Naga Sadhus and Akharas Take Sacred Dip at Sangam in Brahma Muhurta, Reviving Sanatan Traditions

Mahakumbhnagar -The sacred festival of Mahakumbh 2025, celebrated in Prayagraj, witnessed a magnificent display of Sanatan faith as the Akharas of sadhus and sanyasis performed the grand Amrit Snan on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti. Chanting "Har Har Gange" and "Jai Shri Ram," the Akharas upheld ancient traditions, showcasing their devotion during this celestial event.

A Grand Procession of Faith

The Amrit Snan, regarded as a ritual of immense spiritual significance, began with the Shobha Yatra, a majestic procession of Akharas. Naga Sadhus, Bairagis, and Udasin Sanyasis led the march, donning traditional attire and carrying religious symbols like spears, trishuls, and swords. Accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums and chants of their Ishta Dev, they proceeded toward the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

Sanatan Traditions Come Alive

The ritual commenced during Brahma Muhurta with the Mahanirvani Akhara taking the first sacred dip, followed by Niranjani Akhara, Panchdashnam Juna Akhara, Aawahan Akhara, and Panch Agni Akhara. Bairagi Akharas—Shri Panch Nirmohi, Panch Digambar Ani, and Shri Panch Nirvani Ani—followed suit, culminating with the Udasin and Nirmal Akharas.

With their religious flags held high and idols of deities carried in elaborately decorated chariots, Acharyas, Mandaleshwars, and Mahamandaleshwars led their followers, blessing the devotees with rare darshans. The processions resonated with the spiritual energy of Sanatan Dharma.

Naga Sadhus: Protectors of Dharma

The Naga Sadhus, known as Dharma Rakshaks, left their secluded abodes in the Himalayas to partake in this sacred event. Their exuberance and devotion captivated the onlookers, as they immersed themselves in the holy waters of Maa Ganga, affirming their deep spiritual connection.

Devotion Beyond Boundaries

Crores of devotees, both local and from across the country, joined the Akharas for the sacred dip, marking their faith and reverence. The atmosphere was charged with divine energy, as the event became a confluence of tradition, spirituality, and unity.
