Kochi - In a solemn and inspiring event held in Kochi, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi paid a heartfelt tribute to the veterans of the Indian Navy, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping a combat-ready, credible, and future-ready force.

Expressing deep gratitude, Admiral Tripathi stated, “The Indian Navy stands tall today because of the selfless service, sacrifices, and pioneering efforts of our veterans, who laid the foundation of maritime excellence and operational preparedness.”

Honouring Legacy: Veterans Felicitated

  • In a gesture of deep respect, the Indian Navy honoured distinguished veterans whose contributions have been instrumental in shaping the force. Among the esteemed honourees were:
  • Major General M Kesavan (Retd) – A 1971 war hero, who served both the Indian Navy and the Indian Army with distinction.
  • Commander Idiculla Jose (Retd) – A highly decorated communications expert and Indo-Pak war veteran.
  • Their legacy continues to inspire generations of naval officers, serving as a guiding force in the Navy’s journey toward operational excellence.

Veer Naris Recognised for Their Unwavering Strength

The event also witnessed the felicitation of Veer Naris by Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President of the Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA). Among those honoured were:

  • Mrs. Nalina Menon, wife of Late Vice Admiral K.R. Menon
  • Mrs. Sherly Varghese, spouse of Late Commander-at-Arms J. Varghese
