Actor Revathy Sampath Accuses AMMA General Secretary Siddique of Sexual Assault
Revathy Sampath Reiterates 2019 Allegations, Claims Siddique Assaulted Her in 2016 After Film Preview
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The recent sexual misconduct allegations against actor-director Ranjith have been followed by another serious claim, this time involving Siddique, the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Actor Revathy Sampath has renewed her accusations against Siddique, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in 2016.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Sampath, who first brought up the allegations in 2019, described a distressing encounter with Siddique after a preview of his film Sukhamariyathe at Nila Theatre. At the time of the incident, Sampath was 21 years old.
Revathy Sampath revealed that Siddique had contacted her under the pretense of discussing a Tamil movie offer for his son. Initially addressed affectionately as "daughter," Sampath said she did not suspect any ill intentions. However, Siddique allegedly made inappropriate requests, which he referred to as "adjustments," and subjected her to sexual assault for an hour at Hotel Mascot.
According to Sampath, Siddique's explicit demands, including his peculiar sexual preferences, were shocking. She also recounted that when she raised the issue in 2019, Siddique dismissed her concerns, asserting that she could do nothing against him.
This new allegation adds to the ongoing scrutiny of prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry, raising concerns about the prevalence of sexual misconduct in the entertainment sector.
