Stipend Boosted by 25%: Resident Doctors End Strike Following Karnataka's New Order
Karnataka's Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil's Intervention Leads to Enhanced Stipend Structure Effective August 1
Bengaluru-The Karnataka Medical Education Department has approved a 25% increase in stipends for senior resident doctors and PG medical students, effectively ending a recent strike. The decision came after intervention from Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, who facilitated discussions and issued the order to boost stipends starting August 1.
The revised stipend structure is as follows :
PG Resident Doctors:
1st Year: ₹45,000 to ₹56,250
2nd Year: ₹50,000 to ₹62,500
3rd Year: ₹55,000 to ₹68,750
Super Specialty Resident Doctors:
1st Year: ₹55,000 to ₹68,750
2nd Year: ₹60,000 to ₹75,000
3rd Year: ₹65,000 to ₹81,250
Senior Resident Doctors:
Monthly Stipend: ₹60,000 to ₹75,000
Currently, there are 3,540 sanctioned seats for PG, 445 for super specialty, and 527 for senior residents, totaling 4,312 seats. The stipend hike aims to improve the working conditions and morale of medical professionals in Karnataka.
