Bengaluru - The Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground came alive this Saturday morning with the roaring sounds of motorcycles, the sight of para-motors soaring across the skies, and a stunning display of combat equipment, including tanks and drones. The Know Your Army Mela 2025, organized by the Indian Army to commemorate the 77th Army Day, was a grand event that captivated Bengaluru's residents, offering them a close-up view of the might, versatility, and professionalism of the Armed Forces.

A Grand Showcase of Military Excellence

Hosted by the Headquarters Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area, the event celebrated the Indian Army's operational capabilities and technological advancements while fostering strong cultural connections with the public.

The inauguration was led by Major General V T Mathew, PVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area. He began the ceremony by releasing tricolour balloons and honoring Veer Naris for their immense sacrifices. The opening included the National Anthem, played by the Army Pipe Band, followed by a mesmerizing para-motor gliding demonstration.

Enthusiastic Participation

The Mela attracted an array of participants, including NCC cadets, schoolchildren, civil dignitaries, ex-servicemen, and thousands of citizens who gathered to witness the Army's prowess and connect with its personnel.The event's highlight was its inclusive spirit, as visitors of all ages experienced firsthand the dedication and innovation of the Indian Armed Forces, making it a memorable celebration of patriotism and national pride.

Honouring the Brave : Veer Naris were felicitated, emphasizing the Army’s gratitude toward the families of fallen soldiers.

Adrenaline-Pumping Stunts : The SHWET ASHWA Motorcycle Display Team astounded spectators with daring stunts, showcasing the precision and bravery of the Corps of Military Police.

Cultural Extravaganza : The Khukri Dance by 4/8 Gorkha Rifles and performances by over 2,000 schoolchildren added colour and vibrancy to the event.

State-of-the-Art Combat Displays: Visitors marveled at tanks, drones, and cutting-edge indigenous combat equipment, while interacting with soldiers in full battle gear.

Adventure Activities: Para-motor gliding, bridge-laying demonstrations, and horse riding engaged citizens and showcased the Army’s technical expertise.

Public Interface: Recruitment stalls, medical assistance desks, and simulators offered visitors insights into the Army’s vital roles and career opportunities.

The event underscored the Indian Army’s deep bond with citizens, portraying it as a “People’s Army” committed to both national security and nation-building. Stories of recent rescue missions, like the Wayanad landslide operation, were a testament to their dedication beyond combat duties.
