Indian Navy Intensifies Flood Relief Operations in Andhra Pradesh
Naval Assets Deployed to Aid Flood-Affected Regions and Support State Administration
In the wake of severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh's coastal districts, the Indian Navy, operating under the Eastern Naval Command, has ramped up its flood relief efforts. The Navy is collaborating closely with the State Administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to provide critical assistance to those affected.
Naval helicopters are playing a key role in the relief operations, having already air-dropped 1,820 kg of food packets and 22 kg of essential medicines to stranded individuals. These aerial operations are crucial for reaching areas that are otherwise inaccessible due to the floods.
On-ground support is being provided by Flood Relief Teams (FRTs) stationed in Ajit Singh Nagar, NTR District. These teams are engaged in distributing food and relief materials and are also facilitating the evacuation of people using Gemini boats in areas where water levels permit.
Technical teams are stationed at Vijayawada Airport to ensure the uninterrupted operation of aircraft involved in the relief missions. The coordinated efforts aim to mitigate the impact of the flooding and provide timely assistance to the affected communities.
