Rajnath Singh: Operation Sindoor Redefined India’s Security Doctrine
Raksha Mantri outlines India’s decisive anti-terror policy and record-breaking defence goals.

OPERATION SINDOOR: TURNING POINT IN NATIONAL SECURITY
New Delhi- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed Operation Sindoor as the largest counter-terror operation in Indian history, declaring it a symbol of the Modi Government's transformed approach to national security over the past 11 years. Addressing a high-level dialogue on ‘National Security & Terrorism’ in Dehradun, Singh said the retaliation followed the brutal Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, which he described as a direct strike on India’s social unity.
“Post Article 370 abrogation, J&K has seen peace and progress. Pakistan couldn't digest this and resorted to terrorism,” he stated. He cited the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project as proof of Kashmir’s unstoppable development. “PoK will also say, ‘I, too, am Bharat’ soon,” he added confidently.
PAKISTAN CALLED OUT: “FATHER OF GLOBAL TERRORISM”
Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, branding it the "Father of Global Terrorism". He expressed dismay at the United Nations Security Council’s recent move to appoint Pakistan as Vice-Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Panel, despite its track record of sheltering terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.
“This decision raises serious questions on the credibility and intentions of the international community,” he said.
“Pakistan has used its soil to breed terror, from 9/11 to attacks in India. It should be isolated, not promoted.”
He warned that funding Pakistan is equivalent to funding terrorism, and urged countries to impose diplomatic, economic, and strategic pressure on Islamabad.
TERRORISM IS NO LONGER TOLERABLE: A GLOBAL MENACE
Describing terrorism as an “epidemic destined to perish,” Singh rejected any ideological or religious justification for violence. He urged the world to act collectively against the threat, not just for national security but to uphold the core values of humanity.
“Terrorists are not freedom fighters. No cause—political or religious—can validate bloodshed,” he said.
The Raksha Mantri further said if Pakistan cannot clean its soil, “India is capable of acting on both sides of the border,” a reference to the preemptive strikes during Operation Sindoor.
INDIA’S AATMANIRBHAR DEFENCE RISE: MISSILES, CARRIERS, EXPORTS
Shri Rajnath Singh laid out India’s evolving defence strength under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He emphasized that the entire Operation Sindoor relied on Made-in-India weapons, signifying the shift from dependency to dominance.
Key achievements included:
- Defence budget grew from ₹2.53 lakh crore (2013–14) to ₹6.22 lakh crore (2024–25).
- Capital procurement now prioritizes domestic firms with 75% reserved share.
- Ten Indigenisation Lists released, covering 5,500+ items.
- Major indigenous systems include Agni & Prithvi missiles, BrahMos, and INS Vikrant.
He highlighted that defence production had jumped from ₹40,000 crore in 2014 to ₹1.30 lakh crore in 2025, with exports hitting ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024–25. Targets for this year include ₹1.75 lakh crore in production and ₹30,000 crore in exports.
“India is now among the top arms exporters to 100 countries,” Singh proudly noted.
INFO-WARFARE & MEDIA RESPONSIBILITY: CITIZENS AS ‘SOCIAL SOLDIERS’
The Defence Minister shifted focus to information warfare, warning that Pakistan attempted to use fake videos and manipulated news during Operation Sindoor to demoralise Indian citizens.
“Even though the battle on ground has ended, the war of misinformation continues. Citizens must act as first responders against fake news,” Singh advised.
He urged media houses to prioritise correctness over sensationalism, especially in matters of national security. “In the race to go viral, journalism must not lose its soul,” he said, defining journalism as a national duty, not just a profession.
GLOBAL SOLUTION NEEDED: RISE ABOVE APATHY, ACT AGAINST TERROR
Calling for a united global approach, Singh said, “Only a terrorism-free world can achieve real peace, prosperity, and progress.” He also remarked that while the people of Pakistan may desire peace, its rulers have chosen a path of destruction.
“The world must stop nourishing terrorism. Strategic, diplomatic, and financial isolation of sponsors like Pakistan is the only way forward,” he asserted.
He concluded by encouraging Pakistan to seek India’s help if unable to dismantle terror networks on its own.
