Air Marshal Tejbir Singh Takes Charge as Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Training Command, IAF
Veteran Air Force Leader Brings 36 Years of Experience and Record-Breaking Achievements to New Role
Bengaluru – In a significant shift in Indian Air Force (IAF) leadership, Air Marshal Tejbir Singh has officially taken over as the Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at HQ Training Command as of September 1, 2024. A distinguished veteran of the IAF, Air Marshal Singh’s extensive career spans over 36 years, marked by over 7,000 flying hours and a series of prestigious assignments.
Commissioned into the flying branch of the IAF in December 1988, Air Marshal Singh’s illustrious career includes critical roles such as Air Attaché to Bangladesh and Senior Directing Staff (Air) at the National Defence College in New Delhi. Renowned for his expertise in combat airlift operations, he played a pivotal role in the induction of the C-130J ‘Super Hercules’ aircraft and was instrumental in forming the IAF’s first ‘Special Ops’ Squadron.
Singh’s impressive record includes setting a world record for landing at the highest airstrip globally, Daulat Beg Oldie in Ladakh, at an altitude of 16,614 feet. His contributions extend beyond operational excellence to significant advancements in training and strategic operations, including his recent role overseeing air mobility operations at Air HQ.
His distinguished service has been recognized with the Vayu Sena Medal in 2010 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2018, awarded by the President of India. As he steps into his new role, Air Marshal Singh’s vast experience and track record are expected to further enhance the capabilities and strategic direction of the HQ Training Command.
