Mangaluru - In a significant development in the fight against interstate crime, the Mangalore City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have successfully apprehended five notorious criminals involved in multiple serious offenses. The arrests occurred across three separate operations conducted on March 12 and 13, 2025.
The criminals, linked to various crimes in both Kerala and Karnataka, were apprehended with an alarming arsenal of illegal firearms, ammunition, and narcotics. The operations resulted in the seizure of three pistols, six live bullets, 12.895 kilograms of ganja, and three vehicles—all with a combined estimated value of ₹40.5 lakh.
Operation Details:
March 12th: The first operation took place when CCB police intercepted a Scorpio vehicle (KL-14-G-9080) in Natekal, arresting two individuals, Noufal (38) and Mansoor (36), both from Kasaragod, Kerala. The seizure included two pistols, four live bullets, and the vehicle, worth approximately ₹14.6 lakh. Both individuals had prior criminal records related to drug trafficking and intimidation.
March 12th (continued): In another operation, Abdul Latheef @ Thoku Latheef (29), also from Kasaragod, was arrested in the Arkula area after police intercepted a red Swift car (KL-10-BC-6548). The police seized 12.895 kilograms of ganja along with the vehicle and a mobile phone. Latheef, with a criminal history, had previously been involved in several gun-related incidents, including a shootout in Ullal (2024).
March 13th: In a third operation, Mohammad Asgar (27) and Mohammad Sall (31), both from Kasaragod, were arrested near Devipura, Talapady, while traveling in a white Volkswagen Polo (MH-02-BT-2287). Authorities seized a pistol, two live bullets, and the vehicle, valued at ₹10.2 lakh. Asgar and Sall faced multiple charges related to assault, robbery, attempted murder, and illegal drug distribution.
The operation was carried out under the able leadership of Commissioner of Police Shri Anupam Agrawal, with direct supervision from DCPs Shri Siddharth Goyal and Shri K. Ravishankar. The CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak led the operation, which included officers like Rafiq K M, Sharanappa Bhandari, Mohan K V, and Sujan Shetty.
