Mumbai - After a dominating performance in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, the JSW and GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals have stormed into their third consecutive final. Rodrigues on DC’s Preparation: ‘Break Has Worked in Our Favor’
Vice-captain Jemimah Rodrigues provided insights into the team’s final preparations, emphasizing the advantage of the brief break ahead of the championship match.
“This gap has actually worked in our favor. We’ve had valuable team bonding sessions, and with the hectic schedule of WPL—back-to-back games and constant travel—this break has come at the perfect time. It allowed us to fine-tune our skills on Mumbai’s pitches and mentally reset. We’re fully charged for the big day,” Rodrigues stated in a virtual press conference on Thursday.
‘The Past Doesn’t Matter, It’s All About One Game’ – Rodrigues
Reflecting on DC’s previous two unsuccessful finals, Rodrigues remains unfazed.
“Yes, we all know what happened in the last two seasons, but that’s cricket. One night, one match can change everything. The entire team is positive and excited—no one is dwelling on the past. Our goal is to go out there, enjoy the game, and deliver our best performance. We love representing Delhi Capitals, and we’re ready to give it our all in the final.”
Vice-Captain on Learning from Meg Lanning’s Leadership
Sharing her learnings from Meg Lanning, the aggres
sive right-hander highlighted the composure and tactical acumen of the legendary Australian captain.
“What I admire about Meg is her ability to be both calm and aggressive—qualities crucial for any leader. Last year, during a nail-biting game, I asked her if she was nervous. What she said has stuck with me ever since: ‘As a captain, my job is to set the tone and stay calm because the team looks up to me. If I’m composed, the team follows.’ That lesson resonated deeply with me.”
