Bommai Remembers Krishna's Integrity, Statesmanship, and Contributions to Karnataka’s Growth
New Delhi – Member of Parliament and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed profound grief over the demise of SM Krishna, the respected senior statesman from Karnataka, calling his passing a significant loss for both the state and the nation.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Bommai referred to Krishna as a "proud son of Karnataka" who embodied the values of integrity, leadership, and public service. "SM Krishna belonged to the pre-independence generation, and his extensive contributions spanned various key administrative roles at both state and national levels. His passing leaves behind not only a void in the political landscape but also the loss of a revered mentor," Bommai said.
Bommai emphasized Krishna’s remarkable political career, which saw him serve in multiple prestigious roles, including Chief Minister of Karnataka, Governor of Maharashtra, and Union Minister. He highlighted Krishna’s successful leadership in the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha, underscoring his deep commitment to both state and national development.
Bommai also paid tribute to Krishna's personal qualities, noting his statesmanship, eloquence, and role as a guiding figure for future generations of politicians. “Krishna’s contributions to Karnataka, particularly in the growth of Bengaluru and the IT-BT sectors, are monumental. His pioneering work, such as the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme, remains an inspiration for policymakers," Bommai said.
Reflecting on their personal bond, Bommai shared that Krishna was one of the closest leaders to him. "He shared a special relationship with my father, and personally, I have lost a mentor and a dear friend. His passing is a profound sorrow. I pray for strength for his family during this difficult time and for peace to his soul," Bommai added.
