With 18 million Instagram followers, RCB surpasses all IPL teams in digital engagement.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Becomes IPL's Most Followed Team on Instagram
Bengaluru - Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has officially taken the crown as the most followed IPL franchise on Instagram, hitting a record-breaking 18 million followers. This achievement solidifies RCB's dominance in the digital space, showcasing their ability to captivate audiences and drive engagement like never before.
In November 2023, RCB was trailing behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). However, through a strategic content approach and an unwavering fanbase, RCB has skyrocketed past its competitors. The franchise surpassed CSK’s 17.7 million and MI’s 16.2 million followers, reaching 17 million on March 23, 2025, and further accelerating to 18 million within just 10 days.
The Power of Digital Engagement
RCB’s rapid ascent is a testament to their innovative content strategy, leveraging authenticity, behind-the-scenes moments, and fan interactions to foster deeper engagement. A major contributor to this momentum was the team's recent historic victory against CSK on their home ground, a feat accomplished after 17 long years, sending social media into a frenzy.
"We aim to be present in our fans’ lives every day by being relevant, engaging, and authentic. Our social strategy thrives on celebrating our team’s personalities and the philosophy of our incredible fanbase. Social media serves as an entry point to build deeper, meaningful connections with our community,” said Rajesh Menon, Chief Operating Officer, RCB.
RCB’s Digital Revolution
RCB’s impact extends beyond Instagram numbers; they are leading the charge in fan commerce, digital sponsorships, and community-driven content, setting new benchmarks in sports marketing. Their meteoric rise is not just about numbers but about how they have transformed social media into a powerful brand engine.
With RCB excelling both on and off the field, the franchise is proving that cricket is more than just a game—it’s a digital revolution in the making.
