Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Reviews Indian Navy’s Operational Readiness in Maiden Visit to Vizag
Rajnath Singh embarked on INS Jalashwa for a 'Day at Sea', where he witnessed multi-asset operations showcasing the combat capability and preparedness of the Indian Navy.
Visakhapatnam - Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh visited the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 14, 2024, to assess the Indian Navy's operational readiness. This marked his first outstation visit after assuming charge for the second consecutive term as Raksha Mantri.
During his visit, Rajnath Singh embarked on INS Jalashwa for a 'Day at Sea', where he witnessed multi-asset operations showcasing the combat capability and preparedness of the Indian Navy. He was accompanied by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar.
Addressing the officers and sailors of the Eastern Fleet, Rajnath Singh praised the Navy for its operational readiness, emphasizing its role as the first responder in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). He reiterated India's commitment to ensuring free navigation, a rule-based world order, anti-piracy efforts, and peace & stability in the region.
Rajnath Singh highlighted the Navy's significant contributions to national security and international humanitarian efforts, citing a recent rescue operation in the Arabian Sea. He emphasized India's commitment to enhancing maritime security and strengthening its naval presence in the IOR.
In his second term as Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh pledged to further strengthen maritime security and bolster India's naval power. He emphasized the importance of securing India's maritime borders and promoting peace & stability in the region.
The visit concluded with a traditional Barakhana with the crew of the Sunrise Fleet, following a ceremonial welcome at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam.
