Meghalaya Triumphs in 63rd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament

Bengaluru – The 63rd edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament for Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) concluded on August 28, 2024, at ASC Bengaluru, showcasing another chapter in the legacy of India’s oldest and most prestigious inter-school football competition. The tournament, which kicked off with grandeur on August 19, 2024, at Air Force Station Jalahalli, saw an intense display of talent and sportsmanship over the past two weeks.

The competition, which featured 38 teams from various IAF and Army units in Bengaluru, was structured into eight groups. Over the course of 71 matches, the teams battled from the league stages to the finals. The championship match, held at ASC Ground on August 28, saw Meghalaya emerge victorious against Uttar Pradesh with a decisive 3-0 win.

In addition to the team triumph, Abhishek Patel from Uttar Pradesh was recognized for his exceptional performance, securing the title of highest goal scorer and receiving the Best Player trophy for his outstanding contributions throughout the tournament.

During the closing ceremony, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor AVSM VM, AOC-in-C Training Command, addressed the players and the organizing committee. In his remarks, he congratulated all participants for their sportsmanship and skill, while also praising the officials and organizing committee for the successful execution of the tournament.

The Subroto Cup continues to be a significant platform for young footballers, nurturing their talent and fostering a spirit of competitive play.
