Defending Champions Set to Open IPL 2025 Campaign Against RCB on March 22

Kolkata, March 12, 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) officially launched their IPL 2025 pre-season training with a traditional pooja ceremony at the iconic Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The event, aimed at seeking blessings for a successful campaign, saw participation from captain Ajinkya Rahane, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, and the team’s coaching staff and players.
Eden Gardens pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee joined Rahane in performing the rituals, marking the beginning of an intense training phase for the two-time IPL champions.
Chandrakant Pandit’s Optimism for IPL 2025
Speaking ahead of the camp, head coach Chandrakant Pandit expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and strategy. “We have meticulously planned our training sessions. While a few international players are unavailable due to the Champions Trophy, most of our key squad members are here. It’s always special to return to Eden Gardens, and we aim to build on the momentum from last season,” Pandit remarked.
Eden Gardens, with a seating capacity exceeding 68,000, remains one of the world’s most iconic cricket venues. The stadium will serve as KKR’s fortress for their home matches in IPL 2025, where they aim to defend their title.

The defending champions will commence their IPL 2025 campaign with a high-octane clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens. With training in full swing and a renewed sense of purpose, KKR is determined to make a strong statement from the outset.
