Karnataka Unveils Ambitious Clean Mobility Policy to Drive ₹50,000 Crore Investment and Create 1 Lakh Jobs
State Aims to Become Leader in Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle Manufacturing

Bengaluru- In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, Karnataka's Energy Minister, KJ George, today launched the state's Clean Mobility Policy 2025-30 during the GIM Invest Karnataka 25 event. The policy is designed to position Karnataka as a frontrunner in electric and hydrogen vehicle manufacturing.
Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil announced that the policy is expected to attract investments totaling ₹50,000 crore over the next five years, generating approximately 1 lakh jobs. The state has already secured ₹25,000 crore in investments across the EV value chain, including battery pack manufacturing, cell production, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), charging infrastructure, and research and development. An additional ₹15,000 crore is anticipated by August 31.
With around 2.5 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) already registered, Karnataka ranks third nationally in EV adoption. The new policy aims to build on this success by further promoting the adoption of EVs and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Key initiatives include the development of robust infrastructure, such as charging stations, hydrogen hubs, and retrofitting existing vehicles to electric or hydrogen-powered alternatives.
The policy outlines the establishment of clean energy clusters in Gowribidanuru, Dharwad, and Harohalli, which will serve as centers for innovation, manufacturing, and research in the clean mobility sector. To foster growth, the policy details five strategic measures: incentives and concessions, development of clean mobility clusters, charging infrastructure and hydrogen stations, support for common infrastructure and testing facilities, and research, innovation, and skill development.
Additionally, the policy includes measures to promote the use of clean vehicles in both public and private sectors, offering substantial incentives for both MSMEs and large-scale projects within the clean mobility sector.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to increase the adoption of cleaner vehicles to reduce pollution and fuel imports. Karnataka's proactive approach underscores its commitment to sustainable development and economic growth.
