South Western Railway Dominates All India Railway Weightlifting Championship 2024-25
SWRSA Athletes Shine with Golds and Records in Mumbai Event
Hubballi - The South Western Railway Sports Association (SWRSA) has reaffirmed its supremacy in the realm of weightlifting, clinching top honors at the All India Railway Weightlifting Championship 2024-25, hosted by the Western Railway Sports Association in Mumbai from July 6 to July 9, 2024.
SWRSA's dominance was highlighted by their athletes' exceptional performances across various weight categories, securing a multitude of medals. Mr. Prabhu emerged victorious in the 73kg category, claiming the Gold medal. In the 93kg category, Mr. Dilshad Hussain showcased unparalleled strength, securing another Gold for the team. The heavyweight division witnessed Mr. Abhishek B Horkeri's historic achievement as he lifted a staggering 1112.5kgs, setting a new Indian Railways Record in the 120+kg category and securing yet another Gold for SWRSA.
Mr. Shanku Krupa Rao added to the team's glory with a Silver medal in the 83kg category, while Mr. S Elasvarasan and Mr. Suraj Kumar Singh contributed to the medal tally with Bronze medals in the 93kg and 105kg categories respectively.
The felicitation ceremony for the triumphant athletes took place today at Rail Soudha, Gadag Road, Hubballi, where Shri Arvind Srivastava, General Manager of SWR, congratulated the winners and commended the entire team, coaches, and support staff for their dedication and hard work.
This consecutive second triumph solidifies SWRSA's reputation as a powerhouse in Indian weightlifting, underscoring their commitment to excellence and dominance in national sports arenas.
