Punjab Kings Set for Historic IPL 2025 Run: Ponting Declares Ultimate Vision
Punjab Kings Aim for First IPL Trophy Under Ponting’s Masterplan

Chandigarh - Punjab Kings' newly appointed head coach Ricky Ponting has set an ambitious tone ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, declaring his vision to build the "greatest Punjab Kings team ever." With the tournament just days away, the Australian legend exuded confidence in his squad's ability to clinch their maiden IPL title.
Speaking at Meta Creators Day, held at the state-of-the-art New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, the former World Cup-winning captain engaged with digital creators, shedding light on the team's meticulous preparation and championship aspirations.
The Punjab Kings’ Vision: Road to IPL 2025 Glory
Ponting, known for his tactical acumen and winning mindset, emphasized the relentless work ethic and focus required to transform Punjab Kings into a formidable force.
“The overall vision for this team is to win the IPL. I told the guys on the very first day in Dharamshala that we were going to create and become the greatest Punjab Kings team that’s ever played. That’s the journey we are on, and it doesn’t happen overnight,” Ponting asserted.
Highlighting the importance of a winning mentality, he added, “Winning is an attitude. If the opposition turns up to beat us, it should feel like they’re taking something away from us—and I won’t let that happen.”
Meta Creators Day: A Unique Blend of Cricket and Digital Culture
The Meta Creators Day event was a grand showcase of Punjab Kings’ new chapter, bringing together some of India’s top digital influencers, including Jhumroo (Arun Singh), Keshav Ashish, Aditya Shukla, and Sukriti. The initiative aimed at fostering engagement between the team and its fans while offering an exclusive stadium tour.
“Bringing creators under one roof to discuss Punjab Kings, cricket, and culture at the New PCA Stadium exemplifies our commitment to building a strong community,” said Saurabh Arora, Chief Commercial Officer of Punjab Kings. “The stadium tour gave creators firsthand experience of our world-class facilities, reinforcing our goal to excel both on and off the field.”
Spotlight on Rising Stars and Overseas Mentors
Ponting also took the opportunity to highlight young talents who have impressed him during training.
“Priyansh Arya is a special potential opening batsman for us, depending on our overseas combination. Suryansh Shedge has also been outstanding in training,” he revealed. “Musheer Khan brings an infectious energy to the group, and I’ve really enjoyed working with him.”
The head coach also stressed the importance of overseas players leading by example. “I put a lot of responsibility on them to set the right standards because young domestic players look up to them. If they don’t do the right thing, the young Indian players might not either,” Ponting explained.
Punjab Kings’ IPL 2025 Campaign: Fixtures and Key Matches
Punjab Kings will kickstart their IPL 2025 journey against Gujarat Titans on March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. They will then face Lucknow Super Giants in an away game before returning to their home turf, the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, for crucial matches against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
