Port Louis - Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Mauritius early Tuesday morning to a grand ceremonial welcome by his Mauritian counterpart Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, his wife Veena Ramgoolam, and other top dignitaries. This marks PM Modi’s second official visit to Mauritius as India's leader, the last being in 2015.

Upon arrival at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, PM Modi was received with a traditional garland and a warm embrace by PM Ramgoolam. Joining the welcome party were key Mauritian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Paul Berenger, Foreign Minister Ritesh Ramphul, Speaker of the National Assembly Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra, and Chief Justice Rehana Mungly-Gulbul, the first female Chief Justice of Mauritius.
A ceremonial guard of honor was accorded to the Indian Prime Minister, followed by a formal introduction to senior government officials. Expressing gratitude for the heartfelt reception, PM Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating:
"Landed in Mauritius. I am grateful to my friend, PM Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, for the special gesture of welcoming me at the airport. This visit is a wonderful opportunity to engage with a valued friend and explore new avenues for collaboration in various sectors."

PM Modi’s 33-hour visit will focus on key bilateral discussions, participation in Mauritius National Day celebrations as Chief Guest, and the formal inauguration of multiple development projects backed by India. His schedule includes high-level talks with President Dharam Gokhool and PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam, followed by an interaction with the Indian diaspora in the evening.
