Devendra Fadnavis Sworn in as Maharashtra's New CM, Shinde and Ajit Pawar Become Deputy CMs; Major Decision Taken in First Cabinet Meeting

Mumbai- Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time on Thursday evening, in a grand ceremony at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. Along with him, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took the oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers. The event, which took place two weeks after the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 23, saw a massive gathering of BJP supporters, central ministers, and other political leaders.

In his first official act after taking office, Fadnavis signed a proposal to approve ₹5 lakh financial assistance for a patient awaiting a bone marrow transplant. The decision was taken before the CM chaired his first Cabinet meeting, showcasing the new government’s focus on people's welfare. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar, calling it a team of experience and dynamism that secured a historic mandate for the "Mahayuti" alliance.

The new Maharashtra Cabinet is expected to be expanded next week before the state legislature's winter session, scheduled from December 7 to 9. In his address to the media, Fadnavis emphasized that his government would prioritize transparency and work for the welfare of the people, while distancing itself from "vindictive politics."
