Bengaluru - The SM Krishna Memorial Open 2025 will witness an all-English singles final after top-seeded Jay Clarke and second seed Oliver Crawford booked their spots with commanding semifinal wins on Saturday at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru.
Jay Clarke, the No. 1 seed from Great Britain, faced India’s Chirag Duhan in the first semifinal and wasted no time asserting dominance. Breaking Duhan’s serve twice in the opening set, Clarke rode on his strong groundstrokes and consistency to seal the set 6-3.
Despite a brief medical timeout from Duhan in the second set, Clarke remained composed and aggressive, breaking again early and sealing the match 6-3, 6-3 in just under 90 minutes.
Joining him in the title clash is Oliver Crawford, who defeated Japan’s Ryuki Matsuda 6-4, 6-4. Matsuda, despite his agility and grit, was undone by Crawford’s powerful serves and tactical baseline play. The Japanese player even led 3-2 in the first set but succumbed to pressure in the latter half, handing the Englishman the edge he needed.
In the doubles final, the American-Kazakh pairing of Nick Chappell and Grigoriy Lomakin proved too strong for the Indian team of S D Prajwal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha, defeating them 6-2, 7-6(5).
The home pair showed resilience in the second set, pushing the match to a tiebreak after a closely fought set. However, Chappell and Lomakin displayed greater composure at the key moments to lift the crown.
