Trivandrum NCC Cadets Unite for a Historic Cleanliness Blitz at Palayam Square

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – In a vibrant display of civic pride, the Trivandrum Group of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) launched an impressive cleanliness campaign, gathering over 1,000 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air wings. This initiative, themed "Swabhav Swachhatha - Sanskar Swachhatha," took center stage at the historic Palayam Square, home to the World War I War Memorial and the Martyrs Memorial.

The event kicked off at the Col. GV Raja Sports Stadium, where the charismatic Malayalam film star and former NCC cadet Shri Jose Kurien inspired attendees as the chief guest. He was joined by Shri Thomas Lawrence, CEO of 'Save Wetlands International,' Brig. Anand Kumar, Group Commander of Trivandrum, and Defence PRO Sudha Namboothiri. Commanding officers and proud parents added to the spirited atmosphere.

Kurien’s engaging address highlighted the urgent need for environmental responsibility, encouraging cadets to embody the values of cleanliness and respect for nature. Following his speech, teams of cadets fanned out across designated routes, enthusiastically collecting litter and raising awareness through vibrant marches adorned with slogans and banners.

With robust traffic management provided by local authorities, the event ensured safety for all participants and the community. This massive clean-up not only transformed the area but also aimed to ignite a lasting commitment to environmental stewardship among Trivandrum's residents.
