Ladakh - Reliance Jio, in collaboration with the Indian Army, has achieved a historic milestone by deploying 4G and 5G network services at the Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest and harshest battlefield. Ahead of Army Day on January 15, this groundbreaking achievement underscores Jio’s commitment to empowering India’s armed forces with cutting-edge digital connectivity in extreme conditions.
With the support of Army Signallers, Reliance Jio became the first telecom operator to deliver seamless connectivity in the formidable Karakoram range at an altitude of 16,000 feet, where temperatures can plummet to -50°C. Utilizing its indigenous full-stack 5G technology, Jio deployed plug-and-play pre-configured equipment, ensuring seamless communication in one of the most challenging terrains on the planet.
The Indian Army played a crucial role in this achievement, assisting with logistics, including airlifting Jio's equipment to the remote forward post. From planning and training to system pre-configuration and testing, the collaboration was instrumental in making this mission a success.
