Pinarayi Vijayan Drops Political Bombshell at CPI(M) Meet in Tamil Nadu

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Slams Centre Over Communal Agenda

Madurai - In a fiery and ideologically charged address at the 24th CPI(M) Party Congress in Madurai, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan delivered a bold critique of the central government, decrying communalism, federal erosion, and economic inequality. The speech, set in the historic and revolutionary landscape of Tamil Nadu, called for a united secular front to defend India’s democratic and pluralistic fabric.

“On the Revolutionary Soil of Tamil Nadu”

Launching his speech, Vijayan described Tamil Nadu as a land of social reform and resistance, recalling the contributions of Periyar, Anna Durai, Karunanidhi, Ramamurthi, Sankaraiah, and other icons. He emphasized the fraternal relationship between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, hailing the CPI(M) and DMK governments as beacons of cooperative federalism.

“This Party Congress, held in a land rich with revolutionary struggles, will be remembered as a beacon for future democratic movements,” he declared.

“Communal Agenda and the Waqf Conspiracy”

The CM strongly criticised the BJP and RSS for fanning communal hatred, using the Waqf property issue as a strategic tool to pit Muslims against Christians and fragment India's religious minorities.

“What we’re witnessing is a calculated attempt to wipe out diversity by turning communities against each other,” Vijayan warned.

He also cited the targeting of films like Empuran, calling it an attempt by the Sangh Parivar to censor popular culture and control public narratives.

“Crony Capitalism and Economic Distress”

On the economic front, Vijayan slammed the Centre for rising unemployment, price hikes, and corporate-friendly policies, highlighting ₹16.35 lakh crore in loan write-offs as evidence of cronyism.

“The country is being looted in the name of development. The poor are paying the price for the profit of the rich,” he said.

“Kerala’s Resistance and Achievements”

Vijayan took pride in Kerala’s LDF government, highlighting milestones like:

  • Highest PSC appointments
  • Zero communal riots
  • Revamped public health and education
  • Strong law and order
  • Poverty alleviation and housing for all

“In the current dark national scenario, Kerala stands as a silver lining,” he said.

“India in the Global Context”

Drawing attention to global shifts, the CM praised the rise of progressive governments in Latin America, the Left in Sri Lanka, and the emergence of China as a global challenger to US imperialism. He criticised India's failure to stand with Palestine, calling it a betrayal of international progressive solidarity.

“CPI(M): A Legacy of Courageous Resistance”

Vijayan reminded the audience of the CPI(M)’s uncompromising stance on national issues—from opposing the CAA and Electoral Bonds to resisting the J&K bifurcation and fighting for state rights. He named leaders like Sitaram Yechury, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan as stalwarts of this legacy.

“A Call to Action”

Concluding the speech, he urged CPI(M) cadres and sympathisers to carry forward the party's mission by organising people, spreading awareness, and resisting communal and authoritarian forces.

“This Congress is not just a meeting—it’s a mission to reclaim India’s democratic soul,” he asserted.
