Hubballi - The South Western Railway (SWR) extended a warm welcome to Mukul Saran Mathur, who officially took charge as the General Manager of SWR on March 1, 2025. To mark the beginning of his tenure, Mathur was accorded an RPF Guard of Honour at Rail Soudha, Gadag Road, Hubballi, underscoring the significance of his new role.

In a decisive first step, Mathur flagged off eight new motorcycles and three Bolero cars for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) squad, reinforcing SWR’s commitment to enhancing security and vigilance across its vast railway network.

Following his formal induction, Mathur held a high-level review meeting with Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), and senior officials. The meeting focused on the strategic roadmap for SWR, with key priorities outlined, including:

  • Safety Measures: Fast-tracking the implementation of KAVACH in critical areas for enhanced railway safety.
  • Passenger Convenience & Amenities: Introducing digital solutions and infrastructure upgrades for a seamless travel experience.
  • Freight Loading & Revenue Growth: Expanding freight operations to boost railway earnings and logistics efficiency.
  • Infrastructure Development: Accelerating key projects such as new railway lines, doubling, and electrification.
  • Train Connectivity & Speed Enhancement: Improving services by increasing train speeds and expanding connectivity.
  • Manpower Management: Optimizing workforce utilization for operational efficiency.
