Kolkata - The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have unveiled their leadership pair for the upcoming 2025 TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) season, with seasoned cricketer Ajinkya Rahane taking on the role of captain, and Venkatesh Iyer stepping up as vice-captain.

In a statement today, Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, expressed his confidence in the new leadership team. "We are delighted to have someone like Ajinkya Rahane, who brings a wealth of experience and maturity as a leader. Venkatesh Iyer, a franchise player with immense leadership qualities, will serve as the vice-captain. Together, they form a strong leadership combination as we look to defend our IPL title."

Ajinkya Rahane, accepting the captaincy, shared his excitement: "It’s an honour to lead KKR, one of the most successful franchises in IPL history. We have a balanced squad, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with everyone to take on the challenge of defending our title."

KKR's 2025 IPL Campaign Begins on March 22

The Knight Riders will begin their campaign for the 2025 season with the much-anticipated season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 22.

The Knight Riders brand is a global force in international cricket, with an impressive tally of eight trophies across four professional franchises: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) in the UAE’s International League T20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in Major League Cricket (USA).

KKR boasts three IPL titles (2012, 2014, 2024) and four final appearances.
