Durg - In a significant development, Mumbai Police have arrested a key suspect in the brutal knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The suspect, identified as Akash Kailash Kannoujiya, was apprehended by the local police in Durg, Chhattisgarh, after Mumbai Police received intelligence that he was traveling aboard the Gyaneshwari Express train. The authorities worked swiftly with the help of local police and railway protection forces (RPF) to remove him from the train. While investigations are ongoing, authorities have not yet uncovered concrete evidence linking the suspect to the attack.

According to sources within the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Akash Kailash Kannoujiya was traveling in the general coach of the Gyaneshwari Express. Mumbai Police had shared the suspect's image and train details, leading to his identification upon arrival at Durg station. He is currently in RPF custody, and further investigation is being conducted by the Mumbai Police team, which is scheduled to arrive in Durg later today.

The suspect, who claims to be a resident of Mumbai, has been identified as Akash Kailash Kannoujiya, aged 31. Police sources have confirmed that the image of the suspect closely matches that of the person wanted in the attack on Saif Ali Khan. Mumbai Police officials are now focused on confirming his identity through further questioning.

How the Suspect Was Tracked:

At around 12:24 PM, the RPF post at Durg received critical information from Assistant Police Inspector of Juhu Police Station in Mumbai. The details provided included the train number, suspect's photograph, and mobile location. The train was traveling between Gondia and Rajnandgaon stations at the time, and efforts were swiftly made to locate the suspect. Authorities from RPF Durg coordinated with Rajnandgaon station to narrow down the suspect’s whereabouts. Eventually, they found him sitting in the general coach of the train at Durg Station.

Mumbai Police verified his identity upon reviewing the photo, confirming that he matched the description of the wanted individual. The suspect has been taken into custody by the RPF and is currently under tight security. A team from Mumbai Police is expected to arrive in Raipur by air at 8:00 AM for further questioning.

As the investigation intensifies, there are reports that actress Kareena Kapoor may be called in for a second round of questioning. Sources suggest that the police are uncovering new leads in the case, and if necessary, they will re-interview Kareena to gain further insights. So far, Mumbai Police have questioned approximately 50 people and formed 35 teams to track down the suspect.
